§ LEGAL Terms of service

Terms of service.

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Quantiveo is a product of TheCrux Studios Inc., a British Columbia corporation ("Quantiveo", "we"). These terms govern business customers of the Quantiveo platform, its applications and its API ("the service"). Consumer applications we publish (FameBunny and others) have their own terms; where they do not yet, these terms apply to them as well, and nothing in them limits rights you have under British Columbia consumer-protection law.

By creating an account, using an API key, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy and the Privacy Policy, which are part of this agreement. If you use the service for an organisation, you confirm you may bind it.

2. Accounts and API keys

You must give accurate account information and keep your credentials and API keys secret. Keys are scoped to an application and a plan; you are responsible for use under them. Tell us at once at security@quantiveo.com if a key or account is compromised.

3. What the service is

The service provides media-coverage analytics: which people, organisations and topics are being covered, by whom, how much, and how that coverage is changing. It is built from:

  • public news event and article metadata from The GDELT Project and from publishers' own feeds;
  • publisher pages fetched under our published crawl policy and retained only as short excerpts and derived data (signals, embeddings, entity links); we do not republish articles;
  • reference data from Wikidata and portraits from Wikimedia Commons, credited per file;
  • licensed and platform-API sources where enabled.

Scores, verdicts, summaries and reports are computed and, where marked, AI-assisted. They describe coverage. They are not findings about any person or organisation.

4. Your licence to the outputs

Subject to these terms, you may use the outputs of the service (scores, narratives, reports, feeds, API responses) for your internal business purposes and in materials you produce for your own customers, with the attribution the interface shows (data credits and, for portraits, the photographer and licence). You may not:

  • redistribute, resell or sub-license outputs in bulk, or offer them as a data product;
  • use outputs to build or train a dataset, index or model that competes with the service;
  • use outputs to train machine-learning models, unless we have agreed to it in writing;
  • remove disclosures, credits or provenance the service attaches to outputs.

We keep all rights in the service, its data models and its derived data. Content that belongs to publishers, Wikimedia contributors and other third parties stays theirs.

5. Acceptable use

The Acceptable Use Policy is part of these terms. In short: no decisions about an individual's eligibility for anything, no screening or surveillance of people, no re-identification of people we have suppressed, no use as a prohibited AI practice, and no circumvention of technical limits.

6. AI-generated content and accuracy

Parts of the service generate text and assessments automatically from cited sources. They can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Scores are computed from coverage volume, sources and sentiment; verdicts assess what cited sources say about a claim, not whether the claim is true. You are responsible for any decision you take on the outputs and for checking sources before you rely on or republish anything. If something is wrong, tell us through the correction channel; we review and correct within 30 days (2 days for a complaint about a claim concerning a named person).

7. Not a consumer reporting agency; not advice

Quantiveo is not a consumer reporting agency and the service does not provide consumer reports. Outputs must not be used, in whole or in part, as a factor in determining any person's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing, education, government benefits, or for any other purpose covered by the U.S. Fair Credit Reporting Act or a similar law anywhere. Outputs are not investment, legal, medical or other professional advice.

8. Third-party content and notices

The service links to publishers' pages and shows short excerpts under the crawl policy; it does not host articles. If you believe content on the service infringes your rights, write to copyright@quantiveo.com with the URL, what you own and how to reach you. We acknowledge within 5 business days, remove or disable content that infringes, and end the accounts of repeat infringers. Where Canada's notice-and-notice regime applies we forward notices as it requires.

9. Privacy and data

We handle your account and usage data as the Privacy Policy describes. Where you use the service to process personal data on your behalf, our Data Processing Agreement applies on request. People who appear in our data have a rights path at /privacy-request whether or not they are customers.

10. Fees and billing

Paid plans are billed monthly or annually as selected, in advance, through Stripe. Usage beyond a plan's included volume is billed at the published rates or as agreed. You may upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires or we say otherwise in writing. We may change prices with 30 days' notice; the change applies from your next renewal.

11. Warranties and disclaimers

The service is provided as is and as available. We do not warrant that outputs are accurate, complete, timely or fit for a particular purpose, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Our only representation about the data is that it is collected under our published crawl and privacy policies. To the extent the law allows, we exclude all other warranties, express or implied.

12. Indemnities

We will defend you against a third-party claim that the platform software or our derived data, used as permitted, infringes that party's intellectual-property rights, and pay the resulting damages and costs; this does not cover third-party content as such (publishers' articles, Wikimedia files), your modifications, or use in breach of these terms. You will defend us against claims arising from your use of the service in breach of the Acceptable Use Policy or these terms, and pay the resulting damages and costs. Each side must notify the other promptly and cooperate.

13. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, neither side is liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Each side's total liability under this agreement is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. The cap does not apply to a side's indemnity obligations, to breach of confidentiality, or to liability that cannot be limited by law.

14. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your access for breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, for non-payment, for a security risk, or where the law requires; we tell you why unless we may not. You may close your account at any time. On termination your licence to outputs ends, except for materials you have already lawfully produced with them; sections 4, 7, 11 to 13 and 15 survive.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Vancouver, British Columbia, and each side submits to their jurisdiction. Where both sides are businesses, we may agree to resolve a dispute by arbitration in Vancouver instead. Nothing in this section limits the rights of a consumer under British Columbia law to bring a claim in their local court.

16. Changes and contact

We may update these terms. We give at least 30 days' notice of material changes by email or in the product; continued use after that is acceptance. Questions: legal@quantiveo.com.

Draft for counsel review. These are the terms in force for the service today, published 2026-09; counsel's edits will be posted here and, where material, notified under section 16.
